Be the Best You

Meg is an active kid with Bipolar Disorder who plays music, writes poetry, gets in some trouble, and dreams of being Fred. Their school holds a contest called “Be the Best You” where Meg begins to question their gender identity and what the best version of themself would be. Written as an inspirational poem, meant to lift people up and encourage them to be the best person they can be, whether their challenge is related to gender, a disability, or something else entirely. It includes an interactive page to paste a self portrait into the book and become part of Meg’s crew.
